How much does Prairie Central gain from the Pleasant Ridge Windfarm?
The bottom line is that Invenergy claims $1.7M the first year alone, or half of the Prairie Central’s $2.5M budget shortfall. That’s wishful thinking — if you look at their actual numbers that they presented in their testimony, the average amount per year they claim is really only $441-thousand over the next 20 years. (Which includes funds the school gets anyway, the real number is more like $288-thousand.) And their expert said a prudent school would save half-million of the first year’s extra income to account for the half-million they will lose on year 20.
Here is a video explaining this (from the ZBA Hearings):
This isn’t going to save Meadowbrook, it isn’t going to prevent the needed cuts that Prairie Central needs to make. It’s 2% or less of our annual $23M budget (which will increase, unlike the wind farm money).
1,919 Prairie-Central school district residents signed a petition saying they do not want this wind farm built around them. Will building it then help our community?
